Mariusz Waluk - Managing Director

Gaudium Ltd. was established in 2012 by Director Mariusz Waluk, a former Manager of the Alzheimer's society.   He has qualifications in Occupational Therapy, and PRINCE 2009 Foundation Certification, NVQ Level 7 in Management & Leadership,  and is a Member of AoHT (Association of Healthcare Trainers) as a qualified trainer.  Mariusz is currently studying for The Doctorate Degree in Business Administration with Cambridge Management and Leadership School.

Mariusz has considerable experience in Health Care Management, including occupational therapy, and Day Care Centre management. With over 10 years experience working on the ground as a rehabilitation assistant and occupational therapist, Mariusz established his own care company to bring top quality care to people from all walks of life in Cumbria.

Our Staff

Where are we based?

Our Day Centre and Head Office is located on Penrith 40 Business Park in Penrith. Our care services operate in Penrith and the local surrounding area.

Why are our staff the best?

All our staff are competent and highly trained in all aspects of Social Care, and are qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or have completed their Care certificate.  In addition, most staff also hold a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care.  all staff have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, are vetted (and referenced), and attend a rigorous interview process with management, as safeguarding our clients is a priority.  Prior to attending clients, staff are required to undertake a detailed induction programme, and receive mentoring and supervision from senior care staff. In addition, quality assurance visits to clients are regularly undertaken to ensure high standards of care are being maintained.

Staff are also highly experienced in care work, and most staff have many years experience of working with people with Dementia.  This includes working in Day centres and Day care at home services previously managed by the Alzheimer's Society, and working in Home Care or Residential Homes as part of specialist dementia care teams.  Some staff also have personal experience of caring for a family member suffering from dementia, giving them additional insight and understanding.  All staff are passionate about the work they do.  They are enthusiastic, highly motivated and give the best possible support to the clients. Gaudium have an excellent staff to client ratio, for example, at the Day Care Centre there will be 3 staff for 6 clients.


Training is an ongoing process, and staff

consistently receive relevant training, including

dementia awareness, person-centred care,

understanding medication, safeguarding of

vulnerable adults, moving and handling,

first aid refreshers, nutrition awareness, fire safety,

changing stoma/colostomy bags, peg feed training

and various other courses.  Staff also have the

option to progress in Health and Social Care

NVQ's Level 3, and Management in Health and

Social Care Level 4 and Level 5.
